St. Joseph High School welcomes students who need to continue their educational journey beyond their three years of high school. While we do accept students in their Grade 13 or Grade 14 years, students must apply to St. Joseph and not all programs or courses are available to them.
In some cases, a student who has not completed their high school studies may be better served through other educational institutions. Students may have the pre-requisite courses to gain entrance to post secondary. In other cases, a student who returns to St. Joseph may not be able to attain a diploma over their enrollment at St. Joseph High School.
There are two classifications of students who are defined as Grades 13 and 14.
- Upgrading Students. These are students who have credentialed with an Alberta High School Diploma or a Certificate of Achievement but are looking to upgrade their marks or move to a different program.
- Continuing Students. Students who are considered continuing are ones that did not, for whatever reason, achieve their credential and are wishing to obtain it.
The following guidelines are provided so you understand how our enrollment process works.
| Upgrading Students | Continuing Student |
Students who are upgrading their marks are directed to take only the courses necessary for their entrance to their post secondary program. Students are eligible to take courses in Quarterly (QTR), Traditional Classroom Learning (TCL) or Modular Digital Learning (MDL) with some possibility in Guided Digital Learning (GCL). Students are expected to complete the courses and then move on to their desired post secondary program of choice. | Students who have yet to complete their credential program (either Alberta High School Diploma or Alberta Certificate of Achievement) and are looking to obtain it. Students are eligible to take courses in Quarterly (QTR), Traditional Classroom Learning (TCL) or Modular Digital Learning (MDL) with some possibility in Guided Digital Learning (GCL) Courses requested out of interest and not need to credential will not be accomodated. |
While we try to accomodate all student requests, enrollment in courses may not be possible due to the course being fully or over subscribed. We will do our best to provide information about alternative programming if possible. Not all requests can be fulfilled.
