Extra-Curricular Activities

Participating in extra-curricular activities is a privilege and comes with responsibilities. School regulations and expectations apply when a student is on school property or when attending any school-sponsored activities, field trips, etc. Good attendance, behavior and attitude are expected. Please remember, wherever you are, you represent St. Joseph and misbehavior will be dealt with by supervisors, and involve the administration and parents/guardians. Note: Students who are behind in their courses risk suspension from extra-curricular activities until they are on pace. CLUBS / GROUPS Improv, A Taste of St. Joe’s, Saint’s Pride (LGBTQ2+), Year Book, Year Play, Theatre Appreciation, Cappies, ROOTS, Plant Maintenance, Social Justice, Graduation Committee, EDIAR (Equality, Diversity, Inclusion & Anti-Racism) team and many more. Club & extra-curricular activities will be highlighted at the Saint Showcase on September 28 in the courtyard. SPR (STUDENT PUBLIC RELATIONS) As ambassadors of St. Joseph High School, SPR students are committed to influencing our community as optimistic role models. We strive to be selfless leaders through voluntary works. Our goal is to represent the student body by encouraging unity and school pride. If you would like to make a difference in your school and global community, SPR is the group for you! STUDENTS’ UNION The SU is composed of members of the student body who desire to make a strong commitment to serve in a leadership role within the school community. Applications can be picked up from the Staff Advisors of the SU in September. The SU, under the direction of its elected officials, (President & Vice President, Treasurer, etc.) promote pride in our school through participation in a wide variety of events. Members gain valuable leadership, time-management, and interpersonal skills organizing many activities including the welcoming of new students, dances, spirit days, and charity events. CTS SKILLS CANADA The CTS areas provide ample opportunity for students to develop their skills and excel in their chosen area of study. Students who strive for excellence and love the chance to showcase their talents, have great opportunities in CTS Skills Competitions. Here students have the opportunity to develop CTS skills with additional time and instruction in areas of interest. Following an in-school competition, the top students have the opportunity to compete at the Edmonton Regional, Provincial and National Skills competitions. Ask your CTS teacher for more information and /or to register.
