Teacher Advisor Program

The Teacher Advisor Program at St. Joseph High School is a critical component of the education a student will receive. Your child's TA (Teacher Advisor) plays an important role in the three years in which your child will attend the school.

Your child's TA focuses their attention on the following two aspects:

  1. Developing a strong professional relationship with your child to assist them in their three years of high school and,
  2. Advise students to make sound educational decisions both in high school and beyond

TA’s provide students with relevant resources to help them make informed decisions about what to do while in school, and once they leave school at the end of their high school time. There are many aspects of being a TA, but the most critical component of being is being that caring adult for each student.

Is attendance in the morning required?

Absolutely! TA time is instructional time so not attending your TA block is like missing your regular classes. TA time is not optional. How can a TA build the relationship or advise a student if the student is not in class?

Is attendance on Thursday required?

Absolutely! The Thursday block is where most of the work is completed for our advisees. Teacher Advisors can work move closely with students during the Thursday block.

Do Grades 13 and 14 have a Teacher Advisor?

Yes they do however, the program does not work the same way. A Grade 13 and 14 student does not have the attendance requirements that a Grade 10-12 student does due to a number of factors. A TA is assigned to each student at St. Joseph.
