Student Services and Support

The Student Services Office is located at the north end of the school in Room 162. The following services are available: GRADUATION COACH - Adam Swap (Located in Student Services, Rm. 162 - on the main floor) Educational Counselling: Interventions for students who are at risk of not achieving success in school Transition planning for students moving between programs and/or learning environments Assistance to students and their parents in high school and post-secondary planning Information about scholarships, grants, and loans Career Counselling: information, materials, and resources to assist students in career planning Assistance with application to post-secondary schools especially through ApplyAlberta/myPass off-campus work experience for high school credits, and exploration of career interests aptitudes LEARNING COACH - Allison Loiselle (Located in Student Services, Rm. 162) Work collaboratively to sustain inclusive learning environments that meet the learning needs of students. Support and accommodations for students who need alternative testing environments Provide transitioning supports for students in a wide variety of programs FSLW (Family & Social Liaison Worker) - Gertrude Chiza (Located in the Courtyard, beside the bookstore) Provides supports for students and families (including Food Bank support, Child Services support) Provides crisis intervention and prevention to students and families including involvement of Children’s Services, Edmonton City Police, Alberta Justice and Alberta Health Services. Liaise with school and families to facilitate increased positive contact through communication and understanding of individual student needs and circumstances. REGISTERED PSYCHOLOGISTS - Fillipina (Pina) Martinovich & Tim Starko (Located in Student Services, Rm. 162) Provides students with a safe, confidential, and empathetic environment where they can express their feelings without fear of judgement. Psychologists assess, diagnose, and provide counseling interventions and strategies for psychological problems or behavioral challenges The  school psychologist conducts cognitive, academic, and behavioral assessments to assess learning disabilities, cognitive strengths/weaknesses, academic achievement, and behavioral disorders. Additionally, the psychologist consults with parents, students, staff, and medical professionals. SCHOOL RESOURCE OFFICER (SRO), Edmonton City Police Service - Constable Lee Martin (located in the courtyard) Answer legal and law based questions, problem-solving solutions a positive role model to help deal with problems and challenges ensure a safe learning environment work in partnership with administration talk about drugs, drinking, and lifestyles issues advise on matters involving the law 4TH & 5TH YEAR STUDENT COORDINATOR - Rita L’Heureux - educational & transition plans for returning students REG. APPRENTICESHIPS PROGRAM (RAP) - Ryline Monkman— placements with Careers: Next Generation Foundation EDIAR ( Equity, Diversity, Anti-Racism ) COORDINATOR/ELL SUPPORTS - Linda Hoang-Rackel
